Hi All,
As you may have seen I recently posted a new video that provides all the details on my book "125 Pentatonic Licks." I just wanted to thank Gary G. at ShowMe Media for doing a fantastic job. He took my ideas and made them sparkle!

Thanks again!

Diatonic Substitution

6/7/2013

Here’s a tip for any musician that wants to re-invigorate a tired chord progression. You can build Major and Minor 7th chords using simple triad shapes.  To do so just play a chord of the opposite quality built from the 3rd of the root chord.  For example, if the chord is C major, then you would play E minor on top of it and the yielding sonic effect would be C Maj 7.  Conversely, if you have C minor then you would play Eb major on top of it and yield C Min 7.  The best part is that you don’t even need someone to play the whole C chord. A bass player can play just the C note and you can play the E Maj or Eb Min and you’ll get the same result.  This is a simple way to create something that is greater than the sum of its parts.  There is a lot more you can do with Diatonic Substitution, let me know if you have want to know more!

REVIEW:

C + Em = C Maj 7

C + Eb  = C Min 7

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about Anvil Guitar's new student referral policy.  I've always offered my current students 60% off a month of lessons when they refer a new student to me and that hasn't changed.  However, starting this summer I am now offering a $20.00 finders fee to anyone who refers a new student to me.  This opportunity is available to anyone, even folks who don't live in my area because out of town referrals can register for SKYPE lessons.  Send me a private message and I'll give you the details.
Thanks!

I just completed a studio gig last night and I wanted to say thank you to Kevin Donoho of The Ethereal Rein Band.  I laid down some leads for one of their songs and I must say that every time I work with Kevin it is a great experience.  Stay tuned to their website to hear the finished product: www.etherealrein.com
